No. Yes. Yes. Yes.

– Is pole dance a sport? What about gymnastics?

No. No. What about gymnastics? The sport is a way of dancing that involves standing up to a pole, twisting your body to create balance, then moving your feet. A typical pole dance routine features 10-20 spins. This can vary from a gymnastics routine, in which a person’s legs, feet and arms circle at a single interval (for example in the form of a jump-and-spin), to a classical pole dance, in which a person does up to 20 spins at a single time (for example in the form of an aerial backflip).

A few tips:

– When at the pole, keep your legs wide apart.

– When at an aerial backflip, keep your hips at a 90-degree angle.

– When performing jumps, make sure your hips are straight; if you tilt your body forward, you can move the knees more than your ankles or elbows.

– When doing a backflip, keep your spine and spine straight.

How are pole dancers taught?

Many dancers at the pole are taught in gyms, which are small workshops run by other artists, either solo or with other dancers. Many classes are taught by professional pole dancers.

We also have courses for teachers, and we help teach by offering a variety of workshops. We provide a space for local dancers to practice, so if you aren’t dancing here and want to take classes, you could join our local instructor group.
