I don’t really do magic tricks. I do them just as a hobby. I can easily do a million.
You’ve been on “The Late Show”? Is that an early audition?
I’ve done a couple episodes, but the only one where I played the violin was, “The Big Gay Wedding.” I was there like 15 minutes.
You play at my house in Brooklyn. Where is that?
Yeah, in Crown Heights. I haven’t done any shows at all for about 30 years.
How did you find out about my house?
A friend of mine, a man named James, found out. I had never seen him before. He said “What’s up, man?” I was like, “Oh, I’d like to go see James.”
What did you think about being there?
I don’t know what to say. I love it, it’s so funny and so exciting.
Is there more to come from me than James?
I can’t say anything else, but I hope to put out a song one time soon. I want to say something, but it would be so silly.
You can’t play jazz?
No, not jazz. I can play jazz, but not jazz.
That’s crazy. You’re doing it!
Yeah. This is crazy, but I like the idea of being involved in comedy, especially a man’s world. Being around funny people, doing funny things. If I can get involved with this, it will be great, if I don’t, I’ll just stay in my bedroom.
How often do you play “Laugh My Name Off”?
Not too often. But I’m still a big “Laugh my Name Off” fan.
Were you ever “Laugh.”
I was called “Laugh” by my friend Pete [Bennet]. I don’t know what it is. He’s always playing “Laugh.”
What’s your favorite song?
“Just Married.”
Did you sing it when you were 17?
I was 17. I really liked that song and wanted to sing it.
In your autobiography you talked about being raised by your mother and father and how it helped you. What other things did they do?
I can’t tell you that. I don’t know anything about them.
