Where is the larynx located? – How To Sing Basics

  • by

You should be able to find it underneath the nose. It should easily pop out if you tilt your head back by 10 degrees while holding your mouth and throat open. You can also easily see it from behind the ear with your own eyes and with a small mirror that is about 10 inches tall.

Where is the throat?

The throat and larynx should be located just beneath the lips. As you can see in the picture, the larynx is about 2 feet long. The throat is a bit larger or smaller depending on how far down in the back you have to tilt your head and how high you like the voice to sound in person. A bit taller and it sounds kind of high pitched.

Can a person with a hearing problem have a low vowel sound?

A very easy answer is no. When a person with a hearing or speech problem finds a voice with a low vowel sound, they’ll be disappointed in finding that their voice isn’t good enough. The voice may have poor pitch or lack a very pronounced lower register. Another reason they may think they can’t hear a great voice is because their larynx isn’t fully developed.

How to find the correct vowel sound?

To find the correct vowel sound in your voice, start by looking at the bottom of your tongue. If your tongue has a notch or fold, you should have a normal vowel sound. If the tongue only points straight up, you should have a voiced vowel sound. If your tongue points straight back, you have to add a second flap or notch before a voiced sound may come out.

If the notch or flaps in your tongue are broken or are missing, you might have a nasal vowel sound. This means you don’t have a high vowel sound. If you’re finding voice problems from this problem, it could be related to the fact that you don’t have enough tissue to support your voice if you’ve developed it and your voice sounds low.

If no throat and larynx parts are missing from your tongue and you already had the larynx formed, try putting the tongue together with your lips. If you already had the larynx created in your upper jaw, you’ll have a more pronounced and full sounding voice.

The tongue also connects to the vocal cords and a voice with a weak throat and larynx may seem to be low pitched or high pitched. This happens when you don’t have enough tissue around the vocal cords to support the vocal cords
