Disney has confirmed that the official film opening date for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in December 2015 will be February 24, 2016, the official date for Star Wars: Episode VII.
As previously reported, rumors had speculated that Disney was planning on expanding the Star Wars films out once a month over the next few years. However, this has now been confirmed by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Disney’s John Knoll.

John Knoll, the director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, has also confirmed the official release date of February 24, 2016. This means that we should get the first official pictures of Rey, Finn, and BB-8 at Star Wars: The Force Awakens on February 24, 2016.
