The most impressive feat, though, may be that of the rapper under the most pressure. Of the 23-and-under crowd, none has reached the heights of Jay Z or Kendrick Lamar. So many young kids are in the limelight right now, and it’s hard to keep up.
Rappers like Kendrick and Jay Z have spent significant time in the spotlight in recent years. Yet those guys are at age 50, and in recent months, more than a dozen young men were dropped by Biggie, the legendary rapper who died of lung cancer this year.
The 25-and-under crowd is so prolific that the median age for a “Best Rapper Alive” entry is now 31. Of all rappers in the same category, only one man — Drake — is younger than 31.
Jay Z is currently at the top of his game, but he has been around for quite a while. With all of these young kids in the spotlight, you’d think he would have something to say. The only other time he’s given a posthumous shout-out on this page has been in 2006.
How many songs do we need?

What’s next?
Next week, the Billboard 200 has its biggest week yet: It’s already been the year of “The Year of the Short,” featuring the likes of Future, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. There’s plenty more music to come, but none of the albums for the week are set to hit No. 1.
The big news this week, though, comes from Drake. It will be his first top 10 album, and he gets to add to his tally with another hit after his first “Best Rapper Alive” entry. Will it be his best? We’ll find out this weekend.
The final week of 2015 may go down as the best, but it also might be the most unpredictable.
Somewhere between 1,000 and 1,800 people, mostly of Ethiopian descent, traveled from the border village of Darfur to Yida, Sudan, via Kenya to escape war and famine. They’re now in the company of more than a million immigrants from around the
