The CIA has released its new assessment of the events of August 10 to Congress, and with it, declassified its new assessment of the terrorist attacks of Sept 11, 2001. The new assessment, in fact, is so shocking, that it has already caused a series of new responses to be issued by those the report specifically targets, including the Obama Administration, the Bush Administration and even Sen. Harry Reid.
“I’ve been told that the White House has now told the Senate and the House intel committees that there’s nothing in this [CIA assessment] that the CIA has classified or that they won’t release on the record that has changed their mind,” Sen. Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) told CNN.
In a statement released to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Clapper said:
“As we said at the time, there was no new intelligence or new intelligence that was helpful to the 9/11 Commission. The 9/11 Commission Report was clear: There was no WMD [Weapons of Mass Destruction] — no smoking gun,” Clapper told CNN in a statement. “The Intelligence Community has not changed its analysis of the reasons why al Qaeda decided to act against the United States, or of the fact that its planned attacks against the United States were thwarted.” […] “This finding is not ‘in the public domain,'” Clapper said.
