As for G-Dragon, he said that he feels like “everyone” was influenced by him in the most recent time period, whether they knew him or not. “There is a lot of people who have a high opinion of me who don’t even bother to watch my work,” he added.
However, the man behind G-Dragon, Lee Jaehyuk, says G-Dragon is not a victim of public opinion.
“He got that huge popularity, but the fact is that he actually managed to make a really successful career. If the fans did not like him, it means he wasn’t able to achieve the status that he had before . But he kept doing his thing. And that’s fine. People can like him or dislike him. And his music does not matter to anyone,” said Lee Jaehyuk.
In fact, G-Dragon, Lee Jaehyuk, and other famous artists don’t feel that their popularity should be determined by what some fans say of them.
“If someone doesn’t like my music, that doesn’t make it a bad song. I don’t see why people should say any negative thing about it or look down on it.”
But, G-Dragon’s popularity and success are still the product of his “art,” he believes. “I want people to think about me the way I do think about myself and what that means. I want them to see me for who I truly am.”
On the subject of other famous rappers who have also made an impact after their fame, G-Dragon is in the same boat as YG Entertainment’s Taewon. Taewon has been one of the most successful hip hop stars ever, having released several albums and hit songs.
“I have a lot of admiration for YG Entertainment,” he stated.
Taewon is currently in the midst of releasing his first album in five years in the U.S. titled, “Dance Dance Revolution.”
