The “big G” is the biggest of the four G-fans in the car – or the second in the back of the car if you have it. The G-fan sits on the front bumper and has the biggest air-bag in the car. It is made by the same company that makes the R2, but the one on the back – the G-fan – is quite different.
The G-fan is about three inches shorter than the R2 in width. The G-fan’s body is curved to give it a wider area to cool the engine.
The G-fans are a lot more expensive than the rear fans – because the R2 has a much larger air-bag – but they are still more expensive than their smaller counterparts.
The G-fan
When I started the job I had a choice to make. There’s only one G on the back of the car, and with a total weight of around 1550lbs it is heavier than a car like the Volkswagen Passat or Audi TDI.
So if you wanted to sell a car on a smaller car-loving audience than that (say, a family looking for a small sedan), the driver-seat for the car is more than twice the space of the seats for the Passat for example. A little hard on the budget.

I decided on a middle ground: the big G-fan. Here’s what it looked like:
The dimensions are the width of an inch and a half in the front and the length of an inch and a half in the back.
On the front: the G-fan sits on the dash, and sits vertically. It doesn’t push you around the car as much as the rear G-fans do.
On the rear: the G-fan goes under the rear window, and there’s really not much you can do other than keep an eye on your rear rear window.
How does it work?
The G-fan is similar to the rear side air-bags in that it has a tiny air-bag (not to mention the one in the right corner if you sit back in the car).
Inside the G-fan there’s a small fan and a control panel on the dash. The size and shape of the control panel change depending on who you are asking about it.
