What are the most common types of grants? – Government Grants Reviews

  • by

The National Endowment for the Arts is the largest grant-making organization and the third largest recipient of total federal funding, just behind the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Department of Education (NE). NEH and NE receive $3.8 billion and $1.1 billion, respectively, in funding, and total federal contributions to NE and NE are $4.2 billion and $2.6 billion. NECA receives $2.4 billion and $1 billion, which accounts for approximately a third of the total federal funding to the NEH and NE programs.

What kind of grants do NECA and NE receive?

Both NE and NECA receive large, multiyear grants annually. They generally receive several grants each calendar year, but also receive multiple awards (particularly during a period of economic volatility), and may receive multiple awards over a shorter period of time. Grants are usually awarded to support new projects and/or to expand current programs. In certain situations NECA may be awarded several awards over a single calendar year, for example, to support a new project aimed at supporting a community in the event of a disaster, or for supporting a new program designed to promote STEM teaching. NE may also be awarded multiple grants, and this can also be for a single program.

Is NECA a federal department?

No, although this organization has had a specific designation, NE or NEH for the past several years and it uses the same title in its titles. Its main administrative functions are provided through its parent organization, the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities. In the event of any changes in the status of the grants, we will update this page and report the new status.

What happens at the end of a Grant Year?

As of March 22, 2018, NEA will no longer be receiving a total federal appropriation and will no longer receive direct federal appropriations. Beginning January 22, 2018, NEA will cease to receive direct federal appropriations and will continue to receive other federal funding, including directly through the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities.

What happens at a future National Endowment for the Arts Event?

NEA will continue to operate the event in partnership with the organization that runs its national grant program. The event is funded through the NECA Budget and Technology Development Fund and the NEA Budget and Technology Development Fund.
