Who gets paid more actors or directors? – Filmmaking Career In Canada

Actors like to get paid, but how often? Does this pay off for the actors? Do we need to pay actors more money so they feel obligated to work? If not, why not?

In this article, I’m going to look at some possible reasons why actors don’t get paid as much as their directors, producers, technicians, and others.

1. It’s time management

For years actors have been getting paid while also working on other things. That’s time management. It’s hard when you get paid but it’s also hard when you don’t. It’s really hard to tell “time is money”. So most actors do what they want to do. They don’t get paid for it — unless they get something better.

But what are you going to do if it’s not paid? If you have too much time on your hands and not enough to do, then what happens? How are you going to manage that time and what do you do if it’s not paid? If you want to pay actors more – how long are you going to stay on top of it?

Actors get time from their jobs. However, what do you do with it? You don’t need to be in charge of the time. You don’t need to be in charge of the money. Your job is to make your performances pay. And as a filmmaker, you want to make good performances pay. Otherwise people won’t take your movies. The only time they will is while the money’s flowing. It’s not enough time to worry about.

2. Casting

I know there are actors out there who work on every project, every season, every movie. I know that. I don’t know these people. I don’t know the challenges they face. I don’t know what they think or how they cope. The acting world is not like that. It’s filled with professionals, aspiring professionals, and others who are just out of it. Sometimes, you’ll cast a great actor and they’ll be great in every role. But they can go home crying if you don’t use them.

What about the roles that don’t pay, that don’t work out, and they can’t afford a raise?

They get cast in lesser roles. Maybe they get extras. They get paid for it – but they’re not getting a bigger budget… or even better pay… or even better performances. So many of these people are cast by companies because
