A well known French film director, Yves Barthelemy, made a lot of money off his 1997 film La bête en rose, which grossed $4 million.
On the other hand, you would have to be very talented in Hollywood to make more than 4 grand in movie making, even if they did make their film with less money.
How can you make your way as a film director?
This sounds easy, right? You are either a famous movie director. But, that isn’t all it takes to become a success in the film industry, there are plenty of other factors involved that also influence the career of aspiring film directors.
The first factor is that you have to be an expert in your field. If you are a good at shooting a short, but not an expert in filmmaking, you won’t have much chance to make your mark.
The second factor is that you have to master the tools of filmmaking. In other words, you have to know how to take a scene and turn it into a successful movie, in order to get noticed.
The third factor is the time you have to devote to a single movie. It should be a long shooting period, especially if you are making such a good deal, such as $10 million.
The fourth factor is the fact that the industry is becoming more sophisticated.
So, while no matter how talented you might be, your chances of getting made are not always as good as in simpler times. You may be doing film shooting with one actor, with another actor and/or a crew. So, if you are lucky enough to come across a few studios where your film will make a profit, you may have some of this luck, but not much more.
