Start by working through the warm-up for as long as you can. Don’t start too fast, or you may not be able to get back into the movement, as we said, your hips become more rigid.
Then, you can begin to lock hips, working up in difficulty as the workout goes along.
I’ve seen it used as a technique with lifters with very tight legs, but it takes a LOT of effort to get into the correct position. If you try this with a looser lumbar curve, you may not last too long, it’s possible.
If you’re not willing to be patient enough to get it, then you’ll either have to take the rest, or just have a bit of fun.
You can always practice with a partner, and lock your hips using that partner’s feet, or anything else you have in your gym bag.
If you are a stronger lumbar curve athlete, you will be doing the same as I am. You’ll just need to get to a point where your hips are tight as you lock them.
This doesn’t matter if you’re still able to squat and deadlift in that range. You just have to lock your hips if you’re lifting in that range.
